ACT II Thrift Shop Celebrates 5 Years of Reselling & Recycling

"Something for Everyone"

No doubt about it! The ACT II Thrift Shop is a proven success, and what an amazing journey it has been. More than 65 volunteers, generous donors and satisfied shoppers have contributed enthusiastically towards that success. Not only does ACT II continue to meet its annual financial obligation to the ABC Program, it has made contributions to many other charitable organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Read to Grow, Read Aloud Program, Scranton Library, DHHS Music Boosters, Madison Community Services, Call to Care, Nite in Hand, Circle of Care, Clout Cares, Loaves and Fishes, Madison Community Services, Friends of Madison Youth, Glen Highland Border Collie Camp for Children, Prader Willi Syndrome Association and to Haitian relief efforts.

All ACT II volunteers are exceptional, and Marjory and David Colton are no exception. Both Marjory and David were among the original volunteers at the well-known and former ABC Tag Sale. Affectionately known as the "toy lady" Marjory spends every Tuesday morning tending to the toy department, keeping it tidy and fun. Then she moves on to displays and window dressing, and whatever else needs her special care. She has a warm and sunny way about her, and delights in helping customers find what they are looking for. David is our hardware department expert. He spends every Tuesday morning pricing and reorganizing the hardware bins. This is not an easy task, because there are so many "little things". Nevertheless, he does it all with cheer and good humor, and if anything needs fixing, he’s the man. ACT II is fortunate to have these two very special people on its staff …it wouldn’t be the same without their talents and gifts of time.

So, now you know, ACT II has a hardware department! In addition, the shop sports a Boutique with antiques and collectibles, toys, books, games, bric a brac, furniture, music, clothing, electronics, lamps, linens, just to name a few. Really, the shop is a mini department store. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of donors from near and far, the shop is always well stocked with quality goods

The ACT II Thrift Shop offers a wide selection of great merchandise including housewares, furniture, books, antiques, clothes, art, toys, and much more. The 2,250 square foot shop emphasizes quality, variety and affordability.

The shop is located at The Crossings, 170 Boston Post Road, in Madison, near where the RR trestle crosses over Boston Post Road, with a side door entrance on Garnet Park Rd.

The mission of ACT II is to partially support the Madison A Better Chance (ABC) Program and to give to other youth-related causes on local, national or global levels. ACT II is 100% volunteer.

Shopping hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 to 4. Donations are tax deductible and are gratefully accepted at the shop on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 to 3. Please call the shop with any questions concerning donations or for any other information.
