Ryan

Ryan, a sophomore, was a class finalist for this year’s Poetry

Outloud competition and also

received the Science Award.

He enjoys the Guitar Club at

DHHS as well as ARMS (Alliance

of Racial Minority Students). In sports he lettered on the DHHS wrestling team and is currently playing lacrosse. He performs with the Show Choir and looks forward to competitions, especially the one at Lincoln Center in New York City this spring. Ryan’s current college interests are Penn State and Columbia, and he would like to focus on either science or business.

Mahir

Mahir, our freshman, made the honor roll his first trimester and is very proud of his GPA. He has joined the Interact and Film Club at DHHS. Mahir loves volleyball and expects to try wrestling next year. Mahir likes to share his knowledge of Pakistan where he was born and lived with his family until he was five years old. In college, he would like to major in business and already has a school in mind, Brown University.

 David

David is another outstanding scholar who has achieved honors this year as a junior. David, like many of our scholars, is drawn to music. "I enjoy music of all sorts and Hand has offered so many opportunities." He is a member of Waes Haeil, plays flute in the Shoreline Youth Symphony Orchestra and will perform with them this spring in a competition in New York City. He also enjoys sports, playing rec basketball and competing in track and field as well as lacrosse. Dave has been very active in the Peer Advocates program at Hand. His college aspiration is to study computer engineering.

  Hector

While maintaining honor roll status as a junior, Hector also shows significant achievement in music and performance. He leads the percussion sections of the DHHS Marching Band and the Shoreline Youth Symphony Orchestra. He also is a member of the gold medal performing DHHS Show Choir and the Hand Guitar Club. And he has formed his own music group with Hand friends, an alternate rock band, called "Forget About Thursday." Athletically he competes on the DHHS winter indoor and spring track teams. Hector is considering studying criminal justice in college but also expects to further his interest in music and political science.

 Richie

Richie, a junior, is very proud of his academic achievements and has again achieved high honors this year. Music plays an important part of his life; he especially enjoys the DHHS Marching Band and supporting the Tigers at their football games. He is a member of the Shoreline Youth Symphony Orchestra and had the

opportunity to perform at the Lincoln Center this April. Richie has done very well playing goalie on the lacrosse team, and after taking a year off, he plans to return to wrestling in his senior year. He would "like to thank the Madison community for contributing to the program. This program has given me lots of opportunities that would otherwise not be possible!" Richie would like to study abroad and eventually become a psychologist.
